Instructor Requirements

Requirement 1: Get Certified

To earn a Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor certificate for any of the Microsoft Office versions (2003, XP, or 2000), you must take and pass the version's corresponding certification exams:

Microsoft Office 2003 Editions:

  • Word 2003 Expert

  • Excel 2003 Expert

  • PowerPoint 2003

  • Elective: Access 2003 or Outlook 2003

Microsoft Office XP:

  • Word 2002 Expert

  • Excel 2002 Expert

  • PowerPoint 2002

  • Elective: Access 2002 or Outlook 2002

Microsoft Office 2000:

  • Word 2000 Expert

  • Excel 2000 Expert

  • PowerPoint 2000

  • Elective: Access 2000 or Outlook 2000

Requirement 2: Instructional Experience

Any one of the following credentials will satisfy the instructional experience requirement for the Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor certificate:

  • A diploma or transcript from an accredited educational institution, verifying that you have satisfied the requirements for a teaching or training degree, or a copy of your teaching certificate or post-graduate degree.

  • A written letter (on company letterhead) from a current or past employer, verifying that you have had at least two years of experience as a competent trainer of Microsoft Office desktop programs.

  • A certificate verifying that you have successfully completed a Microsoft approved Presentation Skills or Train-the-Trainer course.

  • An instructor completion certificate from any of the following vendors: CSO Group, CompTIA, Certified Internet Webmaster, Cisco Systems, Citrix, Lotus, Microsoft (MCT), Novell, Oracle, or Santa Cruz Operation.
